Sudan

“Keeping the promise for the promotion of Girl, Women's and Maternal Health”

It is our pleasure, on behalf of Ahfad University for Women (AUW), and the United Nations Population Fund Program (UNFPA), to invite you to the "International Knowledge Sharing Conference on Women and Girl Health in Sudan" which will take place on the 19th- 22nd of October 2015, Khartoum, Sudan. This three day conference provides an opportunity to promote a knowledge- sharing platform, exchange of best practices and experiences between local, regional and international actors. To enlighten policy makers, researchers and enable actors to develop suitable plans to meet the unfinished post-2015

development agenda. The conference is an opportunity for capacity development and networking for youth and researchers working for Women and Maternal

Health.

The conference addresses three major pillars that determine women's state of health, these are; Conducive Policy Environment, Community Based Approaches and Measuring Change. Analyzing each pillar, to identify the socio-cultural determinants of women and maternal health, investigate the role, involvement and engagement of community advocates and structures, youth, religious community leaders and midwives in the promotion of the health of girls, women

and mothers. The conference hopes to draw evidence-based approaches that integrate a gender prospective to refine national policies and programs to keep

the promise.
